Tooth Bonding
Tooth bonding is the term used when a Dentist "bonds" a tooth-coloured resin to your tooth in order to change its shape or colour, increase its size or repair a defect. It is probably the most conservative of all cosmetic dentistry procedures practiced today as it involves minimum alteration to the original tooth enamel. Tooth bonding is also reversible if none of the tooth enamel is removed and the results can be seen immediately. It is virtually painless and can usually be performed without the use of an anaesthetic.

Over time, little things can conspire to damage your smile - a chip, a crack, discoloration, noticeable fillings in your front teeth, small gaps between your teeth and teeth that are uneven. Fortunately, there's a simple, pain-free, long-lasting and cost-effective dental procedure that can restore a beautiful smile.

Braces - (Orthodontics)
Braces improve your smile by gently pushing teeth into correct alignment.

Braces were once considered to be part of adolescence but today one in five patients are over twenty and orthodontics is becoming a popular and effective treatment for adults.

Teeth that are correctly aligned can combat gum disease, headaches as well as facial and jaw pain. Your mouth will be healthier and your teeth easier to clean.

Bad Breath
We all have something we want to have noticed about ourselves. Maybe for you it's your hair or your eyes, your clothes or your smile. But one of the things you don't want anyone to notice is your breath.

Most bad breath problems can be successfully resolved with a number of oral hygiene techniques. We can diagnose and administer particular techniques that will combat and eradicate bad breath.

Bridges
Few incidents have a greater impact on your personal appearance than the loss of a tooth. But more than that, if the hole is left unfilled, the surrounding teeth can drift out of position or the opposing teeth can actually grow down into that space. This, in turn, can cause teeth and gums to become more susceptible to tooth decay and gum disease, which might cause further tooth loss. Plus, teeth that drift into the space left by the missing tooth, interfere with the way your teeth contact and grind during chewing which could result in sore jaws, headaches and other problems. Fortunately, a bridge is a straightforward way to fill the gap, eliminate these potential problems and restore your smile.

A bridge replaces missing teeth by fixing a replacement tooth (or teeth) to the natural teeth at each end of the gap. Some bridges have crowns at each end. With others, the replacement teeth are stuck just to the sides of the teeth beside the gap. Bridges are often made of metal, porcelain or ceramic materials.

Dental Crowns
Many conditions can affect you smile , such as chipped or fractured teeth, broken down fillings and teeth that are malformed or discoloured. Fortunately, a crown can easily restore your appearance.

Crowns, or "caps," are coverings that fit over your teeth. Their purpose is to restore each tooth to its normal shape and size, while both strengthening and improving its appearance. Natural-looking porcelain attached to a durable metal shell is the most common material used to create a crown because of its strength. However, a crown could also be made of gold alloys or non-precious alloys, ceramic, acrylic, composite resin, or any combination of these. New cosmetic crowns are made of special ceramics which look far more natural. Tooth location, the position of the gum tissue, the amount of tooth that shows when you smile, the colour and shade of the tooth, and the function of the tooth are all taken into consideration when choosing which material to use.

Dental Implants
"The next best thing to natural teeth'.
Dental implants are a wonderful method of replacing missing teeth. They don't rely on other teeth for support, as other dental appliances do and they look and feel like your natural teeth. They are considered to be the next best thing to natural teeth. In addition, the majority of patients treated with dental implants experience a significant improvement in their ability to chew food. They feel more comfortable and their smiles are greatly enhanced and helps explain why implants are becoming increasingly popular. But there are other reasons. For example, implants are also extremely durable. They're unlikely to break or fracture and the success rate is remarkable. On average, the survival rate after five years is 95-98% for implants in the front of the lower jaw and 85-91% for implants in the sides and rear of the upper jaw.

Dental Implants can be used to replace anything from one missing tooth to a whole set.

Your teeth will not only be stronger, they will help maintain the bone structure helping to preserve your facial features.

Dental implants can also help with digestion allowing you to chew all types of food properly which can help improve your diet and general health.

Dentures
Dentures can improve the way you look, bite, chew and speak. If you're missing teeth, dentures make an affordable method of replacing them. Fixing a toothless or gap-toothed smile has uncountable emotional and physical benefits. When you decide to replace teeth, you're taking a huge positive step toward improving your appearance, your health and your self-confidence. An alternative to dentures, for replacing missing teeth are dental implants. These days many of the dentures we make are stabilised by both conventional method or with mini implants.

Drill Free Dentistry
Any mention of the word dentist and people instantly recall images of drills, scalpels and other instruments. This is understandable given that many patients are anxious about visiting the dentist. We understand this and endeavour to make your visits as easy and relaxing as possible.

Carisolv
Carisolv is an incredible new gel, which actually dissolves decay in minutes thus eliminating the need for drilling and/or injection.

Air Abrasion
Air abrasion dentistry is a conservative less traumatic alternative to using a high-speed drill. It allows your dentist to selectively remove decay and prepare a cavity very gently without drilling, leaving healthier tooth structure. The procedure can often be undertaken without the need of a local anaesthetic injection giving you a more comfortable treatment. It also allows your Dentist to treat several different areas at the same time reducing the need for you to make several visits to the practice and minimising your time away from work or home

Gum Treatment
Gums can be treated for cosmetic purposed or for gum disease.

Gum Disease
Gum disease is an insidious disease that attacks the supporting structures of the teeth. You can have great teeth - no cavities, terrific enamel, perfect alignment, and yet lose them to gum disease as you age.

Cosmetic Gum Sculpting
Cosmetic gum sculpting may give your smile a natural, youthful appearance, exposing more of your natural teeth.

As ageing occurs, gums may also shrink, giving the appearance of lengthening teeth. Gum recession is also caused by stress on the gums caused by a bad bite. The dentist can use a laser to remove the excess tissue of your gummy smile.

Headaches and Jaw Problems
Are you like many other people who suffer from migraines, headaches, pain in your jaw, neck or face, but can't figure out what's wrong? Is the pain intense and reoccurring? Do you have frequent headaches that may be migraines, or may be something else? That mysterious "something else" may well be Temporomandibular Joint Disorder ("TMJ" or "TMD" for short).

"TMJ" or "TMD" is a condition where a person experiences pain resulting from the movement of the jaw, the muscles of the jaw, or the joint connecting the lower jaw (mandible) to the skull (temporal region), hence the name "Temporomandibular Joint Disorder" ("TMJ" or "TMD").

Our Dentists are trained to analyse your bite and make specially designed splints to help treat your pain.

Dental Hygienist Services

A registered Dental Hygienist is specially trained to recognise and treat gum disease and tooth decay. Regular visits to the Hygienist will help to prevent periodontal gum disease, bleeding gums and dental decay or cavities. Diet advice, fluoride application, fissure sealants and oral hygiene instruction are all part of our programme of prevention. Our hygiene surgeries are fitted with the very latest equipment including air-polishing machines, which gently remove unsightly staining without damaging your teeth.

Smile Enhancement

Correcting stained and worn teeth that are the result of the normal ageing process is possible through lengthening and lightening teeth and rounding the corners. Teeth become more yellow as you grow old, and grinding and normal usage wears away the contours and youthful vibrancy of your teeth. Brightening and changing the shape of your teeth can dramatically alter your smile and restore a youthful appearance giving your whole face a younger look.

While reshaping and bleaching are both effective procedures for improving your smile, it might not be the best choice for you. There are, in fact, a wide range of cosmetic procedures available to help give you the smile you've always wanted.

Tooth Lengthening

This procedure involves the trimming back of the gum around short teeth with the aid of the latest laser technologies and techniques. The result is an enhanced smile.

Dental Veneers
A veneer is a thin layer of tooth-coloured porcelain that is put onto the front of the tooth to make it look better. The tooth may have been damaged by decay or an accident, or become discoloured.

The use of porcelain veneers is becoming one of the most exciting and revolutionary advancements in cosmetic dentistry. It is extremely popular, especially among models and film stars whose smiles are their professional asset. Veneers correct gaps, conceal discoloration and change the shape and size of your mouth.

Veneers can even replace braces for those patients with top or bottom front teeth that require only minor movement. They're highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee, tea, red wine and cigarette smoke.

What's more, porcelain veneers can last for well over a decade with the regular care and maintenance of a normal tooth. Plus, they look completely natural.

Wisdom Tooth Solutions
Wisdom teeth can cause pain when they erupt partially through the gum. (This occurs usually between the ages of 17 and 25).

Wisdom teeth may also cause movement of teeth (particularly the front teeth) when they try to erupt and this will compromise the orthodontic result.
Please contact us if you suspect wisdom tooth trouble.
